Looking Back and Reflected
Reflection. A lot of things that I would like to blog! But for the mere fact that I have a lot of it, I missed a lot of my free time blogging, obviously because of so many more important activities to be done. As I was reflecting on the idea of blogging all my experiences, whether bad or good, non-sense or important and worthy to be shared, I came up into a conclusion that it is still healthy to let other people know what keep me blogging, sharing my experiences as one of the objectives why I put up this blog. May nakakatuwang karanasan paminsan-minsan that make my days lighter or kung minsan naman, tudo-kayod ako sa aking gawain as a teacher and adviser but sometimes nakakalimutan ko na rin magpahinga. The last time I wrote and entry was last January pa.
I became sickly lately. But I’m sure, di dahil natalo kami sa mga laro namin last Marist Meet or last Kidapawan City Meet. Isa-isahin natin…
Kidapawan City Meet 2009
After the Marist Meet in Koronadal City, bakbakan naman ang aking soccer team for the City Meet here in Kidapawan in preparation for the CRAA in Marbel. Although four zones lang ang kalahok (including my team which is representing the COPRISA (Cotabato Private Schools Association), dama ko na rin na nahirapan pa rin kami laban sa ibang schools like Kidapawan City National High School and Amas High School. Even before that, I expressed my trust to my players na kakayanin namin…. sa totoo lang talaga, I honestly admit na di ako marunong mag-handle ng soccer team. Which means, di lang sa laro, but also with the team itself, may mga pagbabago sa kanilang pakikisama sa bawat isa. Sino ba naman ang di nasisiyahan nyan? Ako, yes, I was very happy for them. Third runner up kami, lamang sa isang school dito sa Kidapawan City. My team captain was chosen to join the CRAA in Marbel. CRAA (Cotabato Regional Athletics Association) Meet just started last Monday, February 9, in Koronadal City.
PAASCU Re-accreditation
Next big thing for the school was the re-accreditation to PAASCU (Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities) last February 5 and 6; that was two days ordeal for me (and for other teachers including the administrators of NDKC). The School had been preparing from the last accreditation according to the recommendations of last PAASCU. I can really say that, my first year of apostolate is blessed of challenges. Di naman struggles but let’s just call it challenges para challenging pakinggan. First timer with this PAASCU thing, I almost fainted when the accreditor came in to one of my classes. I was confident with my advisory class, SMC section or with first year St. Cecilia section dahil alam nila ang kanilang ginagawa tuwing nagka-klase kami; participative and full of enthusiasm ang mga bata which inspires me a lot to teach, syempre. In the end, it became successful and will know the result of the PAASCU re-accreditation maybe on April or May this year. It was a blessing for me, actually. That experience gave me confidence for the next assignment I will be given by my superiors.
Home Alone Saturday Night did while I chose to stay alone here in the community and start another tedious taks: computation of grades. But before I can do that, I have to check the test papers first. It was my students’ 3rd periodical exam. Medyo matagal-tagal na ang exam (January 19-21!) but I wasn’t able to check them all dahil sa Marist Meet in Marbel. I really wanted to have some recreation but ibinuhos ko na lang ang time ko for the task. I had my weekend at NDKC farm few weeks ago for a rest and self-evaluation of my life’s experiences as a religious brother here in Kidapawan City. Masaya na rin ako na medyo tahimik ang campus sa dahilang weekend nga and nagbilin pa ako sa security guard not to let any student enter the school premises unless they have important things to do. So, tahimik ang naging weekend ko.
NDEA Achievement Test For High Schools
Days never ended with so many tasks! NDEA Achievement (Notre Dame Education Association) Test followed… and so there were complaints from the students… again, tests, tests and tests. Sometimes nakaka-irita sometimes nakakatuwa… The NDEA test done last February 9 and 10 was to check their learning as part of the yearly evaluation to all Notre Dame Schools here in Central Mindanao. Kaya with my task as test supervisor, nakakapagod since I was also asked to be a proctor ng isang first year section dahil absent ang isang teacher. That was fine for me; it was “walking for extra mile.”
After this, I’m sure, another task is waiting for me to do: finish the computation of grades. This always gives me delimna: To Fail, or Not To Fail! Kaya ito, KALBO ako ngayon! Abangan!
