Bishop dela Cruz Visits the Brother's Community

Jan 17th, 2009 by brVince | 0

A week before, Br. Ted told us in the community one morning that the Bishop of the Diocese of Kidapawan, Bishop Romulo dela Cruz, will visit us and will be celebrating the evening Eucharist for the community. That was nice! Hmm, wait… I mean, it’s great!

I mean, what an opportunity for us, which means, I am happy about it. But then, that news from our superior alarmed me since I am tasked to prepare the materials needed. Should we sing before his greetings? Who play the guitar? Definitely we will sing, but nobody knows how to strum the guitar in our community; though we have this thing, hahhahha! Br. Ted will welcome the Bishop, Br. Noel will take care of the dinner and me? Oh, take care of our chapel, lols!

Somehow, Friday (That was yesterday), Bishop Romulo came and looked like ever ready to say Mass with us. Great! Our chapel is always maintained and used that makes it always a welcoming place for refuge at the end of our day. The banquet was prepared and our pastor really gave us a good moment with the Lord in the sacrifice of the Mass. In his homily, he gave thanks for the opporunity of being with us. After that, we had a sumptuous dinner! Crabs, shrimps, vegetables and “bahalina.” I like it, hehehe…

We talked and talked, shared vocation stories.. etc… pastoral, he is a good Bishop. Even before the first time we met, I was sure that he is a kind bishop. Yours truly became the commentator during his

installation as the Bishop of the Diocese of Kidapawan; a very challenging part I got during my first month here in Kidapawan City. For me, it was really inspiring listening to the discussion of the “big men,” Brothers Ted and Noel and Bishop dela Cruz. We called it the night after agreeing with one another that another occasion like this will happen again, soon! Thanks, Bishop!
