Asia America Initiative Brings Rocksteddy Band to Kidapawan City

Mar 7th, 2009 by brVince | 9

With a little bit confusion of who’s really bringing Rocksteddy Band to Kidapawan City, I just supposed that all the attendees of the gigs last night were satisfied. Satisfaction was not only about rock music presented by the different local bands and by the famous Rocksteddy band from Manila but also with the educational awareness drive to promote peace and wise election by the youth. Asia-America Initiative, Young Public Servant and Youth Vote Philippines. Asia America Initiative was the one who organized the event through  AAI-Catalysts for Peace in Cotabato. The AAI was the one that brought Rocksteddy  here in Kidapawan City for a cause. And I believe to that cause… Peace and Change!

People at my back started to complain last night of what seemingly surprisingly educational presentation done by the organizers of the said event. But it was indeed commendable that there are young people from private sectors committed to make great changes to our present socio-political-economic situation today. Ms Tanya Hamada, a representative of Youth Vote Philippines gave a very important message to the young voters of our nation; how to be a responsible voter and be a responsible citizen of our society; as she  talked about the steps on how to register as voters to the COMELEC which was given in an audio-visual presentation.

After series of talks and local band presentations, the organizers gave in to the demand of the public: the Rocksteddy band. At first, it did not impress me who and what they sing; strange at first for me until they sung the famous TV series soundtrack, Superhero, Inggo, then I was able to relate with them and even joined with my companions (some students) around in singing with them. It was not the first concert I attended but it was just really different when it is brought to the local mainstream. Much more, when I attended the Philharmonic Orchestra in Marikina City, with Imelda Marcos, har-har-har! They sung and played well! Am I a rockstar also? I didn’t mentioned here in my blog about my participation during the Battle of the Band during High School Days last February 26… It was not so embarassing but a daring move I made, LOL! (follow the captured video here)

“I vote for peace, I stand for peace!” was the yell last night. Unfortunately, there were ignorant people who showed indifference by yelling different slogan demanding for the promised rock band to perform right away… a disgusting scenario last night…

Thanks to Brother Noel for allowing me to watch the concert, hehehe… Wala kasi si Brother Ted… Rest assured, that was a good exposure for me… People with me last night were Sir Jaime, one of our teachers, Eizer and classmates (my student). ‘Twas nice meeting the parents of the vocalist of one of the local bands (who is now a CPA at Medical specialist here in Kidapawan City; I forgot the name of the band… please anybody may remind me…) Mr and Mrs Blanco (tama yata…)

Thanks to Shanara11 for this photo. Here is the not-so-good part of the captured video last night…

I just would like to inform you that Asia America Initiative was the one who organized the event through our AAI-Catalysts for Peace in Cotabato. It is also us who spent for the Airfare of Rocksteddy.

Youth Vote Philippines and Young Public Servants were our partners. They helped us with our collaterals.

ang late ko na yatang mag comment , pero its better to be late than never diba…
ang sarap naman basahin ng mga comments lalo na yung nagsabi na “CPA” na daw ako hehehe … d po ako CPA , opo nagtatrabaho ako sa Kidapawan Medical Speciallist as Billing/Cashier Clerk po..
we were one of the local bands na tumogtog during dat day and cguro may natulong din po ako sa pag buo at pag organize ng Peace Concert event ng Kidapawan … i’m still hoping na magagawa pa namin ulit ang ganitong event , it really was a successful event , nangyari po talaga ang purpose namin , kahit na may internal problems na nangyari cguro dahil 1st tym still it was d best ..
sa paraang nagawa po ng AAI/CFP, may nabigay itong contribution para sa kamulatan ng mga kabataan sa kung anong nangyayari ngayon sa ating kapaligiran …
tska baka may facebook kayo , add nyo ako hehehe azyw_mimi@yahoo.com. . .
