Summer Vocation Workshop Time
It’s summer time! Mainit! But… it’s another adventure for me after class days and graduation ceremony at NDMU. At least, yan na pangatlo, whew! It is always wise to have plans in life. I spent my vacation for a week with my family, taking care of my beloved nephew and also helping my mother in looking after for the “sari-sari” store. But not only that. I was invited to join with the GIA/Working Students’ leaders to join with them for an overnight outing in Banga. I was happy to be with them before I left Koronadal City.
Now that I am already here in Gen. Santos City for three-week Summer Vocation Workshop, it is an opportunity for me to meet other Brothers here in Marist Province Center. I met most of the Aspirants and Postulants during the Morning Mass and joining the Brothers for morning prayers; something I missed when I was in Marbel. Although I haven’t received my assignment for the next school year from my Brother Provincial, I’m already excited yet open to whatever possibility. I learned to be flexible and ever-ready wherever the Council would send me. Here’s what may happen…
This Summer Vocation Workshop; just like I had before I joined the formation, is designed by Initial Formation Team for those young people who are interested to know their vocation whether they are for Marist life, or for other way of life. It envisions to give enriching and fulfilling experience for those who are considering to enter the Aspirancy stage as it aims to provide experience of faith that are basic, experience of fundamental and fraternal relationship and experiences of discernment that clarify one’s response to God’s call.
We are expecting at least 54 workshoppers this summer. They come from different public and private schools here in Central Mindanao. Nine young men are expected to come from NDMU-IBED, three from Notre Dame of New Iloilo (my Alma Mater), 12 from Notre Dame of Dukay, three from Laguilayan, six from Notre Dame of Cotabato, another six from Notre Dame of Sarmiento, two from Notre Dame University, three from Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, only one from Notre Dame of Kabacan, only one from Bukidnon, one from Koronadal Technical School, six from San Vicente Academy and one young professional.
Six staff would be working together this time. They are Br. Larry, Br. Joe, Br. Wency, Br. Mitch, Br. Danny and yours truly. This would last for three weeks from April 13 to May 4 at Marist Aspirancy House, NDDU-IBED, Lagao, Gen. Santos City.
After this workshop, I am looking forward for my new assignment
Where would be assigned for apostolate next school year?
