Ongoing Formation or Ongoing Frustration?

Feb 15th, 2008 by brVince | 0

The first of its kind. The Junior professed sisters and brothers of four congregations met up for the first time here in Davao City. It was initially planned by the formators from the congregations of Marist Fathers (SM), Marist Brothers of the Schools (FMS), Marist Sisters (SM) and Marist Missionary Sisters (SMSM).

Junior MArists

Ten brothers from Marist Brothers, two from Missionary Sisters, one from Marist Sisters and four from the Marist Fathers met at Saint Peter Chanel Scholasticate in Dumalag, Matina, Davao City. A whole night and a day gathering was highlighted with an input about Formation by Br. Alfredo, FMS from Ad Gentes Mission.

Brother Alfredo, a Mexican Marist Brother assigned in Korea, opened his topic about Ongoing Formation and the theological way of understanding the consecrated life. He also talked about the need of developing a new identity, a whole life commitment and humility; modeled in the life of Jesus Christ. He also compared models of Religious Life and the necessary strategies and attitude in on-going formation.

There was sharing of formation experiences and a socialization time that gave us an opportunity to know one another as one Marist Family. Different games, singing and cultural dances were shared that made our gathering a successful one. We are expecting that the first gathering will be followed with another meeting soon together with new professed brothers and sisters from four different Marist congregations.

On this day..
