Learn to Breathe

Apr 20th, 2008 by brVince | 14

Learn to BreatheOf course, after a week, the workshop staff and workshoppers need a break; a good break, at least. We had our overnight outing at Marist Beach in Bawing. We aimed to let the workshoppers experience community building by letting them organize the group during the outing. We had lots of fun; games, swimming and meals together.

The young ones were given a free-day today as part of their experiences here, for them to learn how to manage themselves in new places here in Gen. Santos City. After lunch at Mang Gorio, I spent my afternoon watching the movie at KCC Mall, “Forbidden Kingdom” by Jet Li and Jackie Chan. I usually reflect what I can get from a good movie like that. I learned how to breathe! I also felt tired during the whole week activities and I needed to breathe. The young actor ask Jet Li, “What if I freeze?” He replied, “Don’t forget to breathe.” A good Zen for me…

We are now on the second week of our Summer Vocation Workshop. At least we knew already the final number of our participants and where they came from. We have 24 workshoppers out of 54 expected young men who were interested to join the three-week workshop. Here is the list of the participants and the school where they came from:

1. Andres, Edser Alfonso P. NDMU-IBED
2. Armerola, Rumualdo L. San Vicente Academy, Cotabato City
3. Bansuelo, Kendall Yves Neil G. Notre Dame of Dukay, Sultan Kudarat
4. Becislao, Jade B. Notre Dame of Dukay, Sultan Kudarat

12. Ferolino, Jovencio P. Notre Dame University
13. Gallano, Russel John B. San Vicente Academy, Cotabato City

22. Taping, Argie A. Notre Dame of Cotabato
23. Villacarlos, Reynen Jay S. ND Dadiangas Univ
24. Zalzos, Nicco Rei P. ND Cotabato – PM Shift

The first week was not that easy for all of us; we needed to know each other, know the young guys and organizing our timetable and creating committees to help one another in different tasks for the whole duration of the workshop. Thanks to Br. Romy of Marist Asia-Pacific Center. I found your resources on Prayer and Prayer Forms. I can still remember the guided meditation; I slept… I also gave the same topics to the young men here.

Two weeks more to go and the workshop ends but I’m still looking forward for more exciting experiences to happen here at Marist Aspirancy House. I am also looking forward for my new assignment next school year. The Brother Provincial will announce our new areas of apostolate soon. I got a good reason to learn how to breathe today after a week: re-energizing for another two weeks :)
