Davao Summer Escapade

May 11th, 2008 by brVince | 10

Fourth FloorAfter the post-workshop activities, the staff agreed to have a two-day escapade; or rather, another short break. Going to Lake Agco in Kidapawan was our first plan but we changed it. We are here in Davao City, instead. The last time I’ve been here was to take care a hospitalized Brother. That was for three days at San Pedro Hospital. Though quite familiar with the different places like Victoria Mall, Gaisano and SM Mall when I was still working at the seaport in Sasa, it’s my first time to visit NCCC Mall now located at Matina. I find it spacious and organized, packed with the things people are mostly looking for.

Few minutes ago, I was there playing at Timezone; I missed playing at Timezone at Gateway Mall in Cubao, Quezon City couple of months ago. That was one of my hangouts every time I go out after a weeklong studies and apostolate. I have still my Timezone card, still loaded and usable. Not only that, I wanted to see a movie that NCCC has movie houses, too. Since I have seen “Forbidden Kingdom” and “Iron Man” at KCC Mall in Gen. Santos City, I watched “Speed Racer” this time. My Brother-companions watched the other film together. I was enjoying the movie; or maybe hypnotized with the colorful and fast-paced graphic effects; I liked it. And another learning I got from the movie? You may not be able to change racing itself, racing can change your life.

Back to the place where we are staying; Lispher Inn, funny experience of four of us happened. We took the elevator going up to fourth floor. One Brother noticed, “Bilis ah! Fourth floor na ba?” And they started walking out except me who saw the big “2nd Floor,” started to laugh when three of them were already outside the elevator. They hurriedly came in again and kept quiet as if nothing happened. We all laughed at the funny thing happened.

Here at Lispher Inn, which is located at Juna Avenue in Matina, we are going to stay for a night since we are still having our short escapade till tomorrow. I find it clean, decent and a quiet place ideal for those who wants to have a home away from home. I can say “decent,” because at the lobby, I read this line, “Instant spouse is not allowed in this place.” I admire the management’s reminder for those who tend to look for instant spouses. I only know few instant things like “instant noodles, instant coffee” but here, may instant spouses na pala, hahaha!

Just an update:

The nationwide transport strike today just spoiled my plans to visit my relatives here in Davao City. Now, I ended up bloghopping, reading Catholic blogs and updating WP version of Gensantos.com and Mapac-marist.org

instant spouse ba? hehe… you may want to check out the parish ran by our congregation there in Davao City. It’s the Assumption Parish, located near the Archbishop’s residence and is surrounded by lots of posh eating places. God bless!

    Hi Kitrianah :)

thanks for dropping by and commenting.
I think, it’s not really about liking the movie but what may the movie could give me.
I tend to watch for beautiful lines rather than looking for specific details. well, how about making your own review, too :) You have the right to review the movie :)
