Group of Life in an Urban Lifestyle
The opportunity for me to attend to the group sharing and Bible study of young professionals at Galleria III yesterday, gave me hope about “group of life” process. It was really admirable to see how these young people gathered together, talked casually about what happened during the week, how they listened to God’s message through their experiences and shared among them. Reading God’s message from the Bible followed and personal reflection questions were asked for them to ponder. realizing that they were busy during the week, they still had the quality time to recall and reflect upon their rich experiences of god’s presence and faithfulness. They believe God’s overflowing abundance in spite and despite of difficulties of everyday life as young people. IS it not beautiful and a reason to be thankful to God?
During my noviceship, and even until now at the Scholasticate, we have our “group of life” or group accompaniment. It is a process of sharing one’s experiences during the week. Each one takes turn and share stories and experiences with God. It is also an avenue to confront anybody when necessary to help one another in times of difficulties and challenges so that everybody may grow in a good relationship; to self, to others and to God. It was always a beautiful experience everytime we learn from one another.
But it is also sad to realize that many young people are getting strayed from good values , the worst, from strong Christian foundation. Distorted values and lifestyles are gradually getting conventional and becoming factors of weak foundation of one’s disposition in life. Somehow, some of the issues being talked about during the Marist Asian youth meeting were talked about. The very recent gathering of the youth, as school representatives from different parts of Asia (Malaysia, China Hong Kong, Korea and Philippines) talked about the issues of their respective culture, how these affect them and what can they contribute as young people. “Life itself becomes lesser in value among the youth because of lack of experience of

Kuy, remind mo nga sa akin) is challenging the other young professionals in an urban setting how to live a Christian life in the midst of busy career life; where they gather themselves during the weekend, ponder together of God’s presence in every person, pray and praise God together. And in what they are doing: a happy, contented and blessed life is being lived.
