Celebrating Life with People in Many Different Ways

Oct 22nd, 2007 by brVince | 0

Re-entry programMay I start with the closure :) Last Friday, the Marist Brothers here in the Philippines officially closed the Philippine Province Pastoral Pal to give way for the new merged East-Asia Province to start anew. Lay mission partners from different schools and mission celebrated with the Brothers by recalling the history of the pastoral plan and what transpired during the years when it was implemented and actually being implemented. The said activity ended with a fellowship meal.

The next day was a big celebration for a Brother who is assigned in Malutok, Palawan mission. I was once again inspired with celebration of the 25th anniversary of Br. Larry Sevilla, FMS. His silver jubilee was being held at Lagao Parish Church was attended by visitors, teachers and lay mission partners from different Marist schools. Br. Larry was my formator during my Aspirancy and postulancy stages in 2002 at Lagao Aspirancy House, Gen. Santos City. He had been to different ministries like in Jolo and this time, in Palawan Mission. A simple yet sumptuous meal was served after the Eucharistic celebration. Most of the Brothers were present during the celebration; an opportunity to be gathered. I also met the new batch of Ad Gentes Brothers from Davao City. We are thankful for their hospitality and for welcoming us to their community for a sleep over in Davao before we proceeded to Buda in Bukidnon.

As part of our gathering, all the young Brothers, together with Brother Edgar and Brother Roy had our dinner at Jack’s Ridge in Davao City. Jack’s Ridge is located in a hinger place overlooking the whole beautiful city of Davao at night. It was my second time to be there. The ambiance thge service and of course, the view of Davao city at night are just some of Jack’s Ridge’s best features. There are lots of menu to choose from. After the dinner, we still had a chance to stroll at SM Davao which was having a midnight sale (Sorry, I got no Money :D ) I had my iced mocha at Karl’s Coffee Corner while my brothers had their other drinks. Well, a goodnight sleep followed after the day’s busy activities.

The whole trip never ended yet. We just stayed for a night at Ad Gentes in Davao City since we were on our way to Buda, the boundary of Bukidnon, Cotabato Province and Davao City. A cold place, just like Baguio and has Pine trees also. The young Brothers usually called as temporary professed brothers (That includes me :D by the way) had a gathering and at the same time, a re-entry for Brs. Mitch, Vince and Kim of Korea. Since I can’t give the whole detail :D I would like to say that Buda was really nice! It was a good palce to rest for a while, reflect and see the contrast between my previous assignment, MAPAC in Marikina and Buda, a real place of apostolate. An afternoon rain welcomed us. A cold breeze helped us to settle down. Laughter and games ended at midnight when I had a chilling experience of coldness of the place; though very cold, I was able to take a bath the next day :D After breakfast, we started traveling back to our respective places, and to make my story short. I arrived here in Marbel at half-past four in the afternoon already.

After unpacking my stuff, I felt relieved after playing badminton in the covered court and had some time to use the facilities of the gym :D I’m thinking of starting the program; body building? Not really, just for physical fitness :) I didn’t stay long since I’m going to start my class with the afternoon class of first year students. They seemed to be happy with what we discussed; the Advent, and they really enjoyed the activity I gave them: dramatization of what does it mean by Advent to them :) Well and good, I’m happy tonight as I retire. Thank you Lord for all the experiences :)
